Erick Xavier Munoz Quinones
EXECUTIVE CHEF
Erick was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and moved to Mexico City in 2010, where he lived until 2021. In Mexico, he was inspired by the street food culture, from handmade tortillas to cooking tacos al pastor on a "trompo" and making birria by digging holes in the ground to create a firepit, which he covered with banana leaves. This exposure sparked his culinary passion.
After high school, Erick began working at La Chiloteca in Mexico City while studying culinary arts at UVM Lomas Verdes. When the pandemic hit, he moved to Pittsburgh to live with his brother and worked at Juniper Grill. Starting as a pantry cook, he quickly advanced to Sous Chef and later Executive Sous Chef under Chef James Pursehouse.
Feeling homesick, Erick thought about returning to Puerto Rico but was introduced to the concept of 1930’s by Atria’s. The restaurant’s rich history and cultural significance drew him in, and he decided to stay. He worked at Atria’s Mount Lebanon until its closure in December 2024, during which time he experienced the restaurant's legacy and its importance to the community.
